Figured I would share the BB Flight Distance / Joule Energy chart with you all. Been looking around and noticed some players talking about using higher gram BB's to lower their FPS.... This chart goes to prove why so many games chrono with their BB's of .20 or .25 whatever their rules are.
If you look at the Joules (J) [bottom left side of chart] you will notice the FPS beside them defined under their class of .20, .25, .30, ect. No matter what BB's you are using your still putting out the same amount of Joules, which is the energy the gun puts out with every BB. So when games say max FPS of 400fps with .20's they are also talking about the Joules energy your guns putting out which must be below 1.49 J.
If you have any questions ask away. There are many great players here that can talk more about this then I can. In the mean time, keep up the slinging of plastic, just make sure you respect the FPS limits set by the hosts.

If you want to get pretty in depth on the physics and realities of the same idea then check this site out.

They do a ton of comparitive analysis on how bb weight affects the flight characteristics as well as the speeds.

Re: BB Flight Distance / Joule Energy
How far can you throw a tennis ball?
How far can you throw a baseball?
How far can you throw a softball?
How far can you throw a shot-put?
How fast can you repeat the exercise?
How fast is a shot-put compared to a baseball?
If two trains are traveling at the speed of light, when is the mail due?
