Gun painting techniques and pics
Can I get some advice on gun painting and some pics for inspiration from the vets?

I suggest a gun wrap over a paint job. Just because if you ever switch environments, well you can't really take a paintjob off as easy of a wrap. Just get an elastic cord, and wrap it in burlap, jute, and synthetics and such. Break up the outline, match the environment colors and bam.

Painting guns is real easy. Don't be too precise, or it'll look phony. Once you use it a lot it gets nice and worn and looks sexy. Here is my mk18 with my new 14.5 upper (you can tell the lower has been in use longer by the wear).

I appreciate all the info and inspirational pics. I went ahead and painted instead of taped because I just wanted to see what it would look like. Here is the end product.

Re: Gun painting techniques and pics
First I cleaned the gun's outer body of any dirt & natural oils. Once cleaned I taped the sections I didn't want painted and then placed a base coat of Tan on the gun.

After a few days to properly set I re-taped the guns sections I didn't want painted and then put on the last two colors of various green.

Pic taken just seconds after coating the gun.

Pic taken 24hrs after paints set.
To get the look I used pine-needles I found around the yard from the pine trees. I got myself a handful of pine-needles, organized them, taped the bottom of the needles (kinda like a broom if you've looked at one with the binding) and then pressed the against the gun spraying light coats of green on over the tan. As I sprayed I moved the pine-needles down and in different positions.

I don't mean to take the forum over but I don't see many AK-47s so I must ask. First off, I want to paint my AK-47 but I don't know if that will even look good or what I would paint it. I'm just asking for any suggestions for what would look good or if I should even go over the traditional wood and black paintjob that makes the ak-47 so recognizable.
Re: Gun painting techniques and pics
You can go to Google.com and type in 'AK 47 Paint Jobs'. Click on a few images and more images from other airsoft forums will come up sometimes...
Some people will even just paint the wood on the AK 47 just to give it that aged look.

Re: Gun painting techniques and pics
I had an idea of doing the body OD green, leaving the wood color. Then either leave it at that or going over with tiger stripes in either a darker green or tan or something. I have no clue, I was just thinking. Although I do think going full OD, leaving wood unpainted would be nice.
