Calling all Sniper teams! As seen on T.V.!

Some clarifications:
.....If you don't have a team mate, we'll find you one on the day of - by the end of the day you'll be a team Very Happy
.....Ghillie suit is optional, you'll get the basic 5 points, and can move on without wearing that heavy stinky thing.
.....There will most likely be open gaming as time permits, so bring your game toys (goggles, under 550fps guns, etc.).
.....Boots - someone asked - your regular field shoes are fine, just remember that it's hilly, bushy, bug & varmit filled terrain.
.....Feb 9 - Event 3 is for bragging rights only, not points.
.....Feb 9 - Corrected Flier for date and removed points from event 3.

Just curious, why no human target? No one is shooting real weapons so it would be great to have the teams face off against real opponents. Real world sniper competitions would die to have such realism but they can't be shooting live rounds at role players. Just a thought. It is airsoft you know.

Well then they should have a FPS limit and use human targets. No one in the south can really make a gun shoot over 550 and be worth a damn besides Joe. But again that was just my two cents, I'm sure most of the competition has been hashed out.

That's awful negative. Have you considered paintball? I'm sure they would appreciate your point of view on airsofting.

Gentleman-I believe Mr Animal Mother is trying to stoke the fire of competition for this event-I for one have taken the bait and will try to build a capable weapon for the event. If that fails then I will try to throw a ridiculous amount of money at Joe and get his gun!

wow....maybe somebody isn't happy that someone is pointing out the inherent "non-realism" of a competition that seems to be shaping up as a "hogans alley" of jacked up fps guns ,that are unfieldable at any real event situation, being fired at static, unmoving and unintelligent targets......(i.e. not like the people one would have to engage at an actual event).........sooooo that would make you the "Best in the South-East" how?
personally....in years of playing backyards to large events, i have NEVER seen a sniper do anything during any event that led to victory or loss....usually a sniper can only hit 1 or 2 experienced players before their team mates shit hammer him into respawn....
a more realistic format might to take a 2 man team, give them a set head start time for them to move out and find positions, and then have them hunted by either the other snipers with AEGs or by a set group of staff cadre......most kills by a team in a specified amount of time wins....(thanks go to dino for that idea). even then any "title" you might win would in NO way be recognized by any outside group of players anyway.....

You make no sense. Once you get a little experience under your belt, then maybe you can start throwing you opinion in all the time, like you do anyways.

i think he's alluding to how P-ballers laugh and point at airsofters......as folks who are sooooo serious about gear, uni's, MILSIM,TACSIM and keep trying to take a HOBBY and turn it into a competitive SPORT...which it isn't .....or some sort of aproximation of actual RS tactical skills that just end up making airsofters look like wannabes...

Well everyone knows that I'm always want to move away from the paintball aspect, such as the popular "team deathmatch" and move close to more realistic things. I could care a less about kill count, but that's neither here nor there. I'm done offering up my opinions.

Post by allout 14th November 2010, 11:58 am

this was meant to be like the show on the military channel , not a airsoft game , we will have units out looking for the teams , as most of us know fps is only part of a setup , the reason for no limit is so the very few out there that can get a gun working in a high fps state will have a place to try there skill , now we will have different classes based on fps so as to even out the field , that way the guys that can use their gun on another field will know what they can do in a given environment . as far as real life targets , its hard to find someone who will walk around and let someone shoot at him , knowing that they are out there at a given time and area makes it hard to not expect the shot that to me is less real . in real life one would not know when or where they could be shot at . as far as best in the south east we know that will be something no other field would recognize , with wilcox being one of the main airsoft fields in south MS. AL. and northwest FL. we thought we would add that in , hope this helps clear this up

People sure are getting heated about this comp. Is sounds like we need to sett some rules down and get people out of each others faces. This comp. should be simple and to he point. There shouldn't be any bitching, but opinions should be put in by everyone. So what if some people don't like others opinions, just let i go bom

There is no FPS limit during this Op due to no one will be shooting human targets

I'm gonna bring my 308. I'll shoot real steel. Laughing

I do think your gonna have to set some kind of limits or else its not going to be fair. Even with optics. I would say nothing over 3 x 9 x 50mm
