What do you need? Gear oil? Silicone? Monkey Grease?

I have various allen/hex, flat/phillips and other odd tools, but is there anything specific that is needed when cleaning, maintaining and repairing those pesky gear boxes?

On the inside of the gearbox I like to use white lithium grease instead of silicone, but silicone is good to have also. Additional tools I keep are as follows, small needle nose, wire cutters/strippers, small punch, solder and iron, solder clip station, small micro file, blue loc-tite, swabs, and an of course spare parts and wire. This is on top of the standard allens and screw drivers.

I'm really good at de-soldering when I'm trying to connect things. Very Happy

That's a special skill, I usually have to have a solder sucker for that. Lmao
